Provide Incentives to Increase Returning Visitors on Website

0

Last Saturday night i and my cousin brother happen to go at a local bar that we visit quite frequently for a drink. Like usual, we got served with our ordered Vodka with snacks but it was different that time in a way that we were served with their special dishes.

It was crispy fried boneless fish as an extra. When i asked the bartender about it, we were told that its free for frequent visitors. I was kind of surprised and that was pretty amazing to get served with their special dish every Saturday night just for being frequent.

Based on that experience of mine on Saturday night i thought why not find a way to apply it to increase returning visitors no a website. And if you see and think, this concept is actually being used by many bloggers in real time. You can provide incentives to either increase visitors or improve returning visitors to your website.

One of the widely used method it to use several plugins for your wordpress blog like top commentators list on sidebar. It will basically display a list of tip commentators on sidebar which is site wide and that can give commentators a link back to their website. It also shows the number of comments made by the reader on entire website.

In order to increase the potential of returning visitors, you can provide an incentive such as the Top 10 Commentators with at least 50 comments will get a free premium website theme.

Those 50 comments from one commentator can be for one post each or a set of comments per post depending on your needs.

So depending on your offer you can generate a consistent readership of 10 x 50 = 500, that is 10 unique visitors returning 500 number of times on your website to read your 50 posts that can take around 1 and half month depending on your posting frequency.

You can do all the maths because that totally depends on your offer and the numbers you are going to set.

The whole point is to be different than others. The idea mentioned above is quite unique and i have never see it on any blog so far. You will have to invest some to gain some anyways. So why not provide them a free premium template? Or you could design one by yourself if you are good at it, or you can simply provide a pricey ebook for free.

Other method is to start a Top Blogs Contest. Many bloggers that have developed a consistent readership on their website have started a top blogs contest on their site. But the important thing to note here is that your blog should be quite popular. It should not only have a readership but should also get a good amount of organic traffic and traffic from other sources.

Bloggers might consider the Alexa Rank and the Page Rank of your website before participating in the contest. You can give any prize you want and if you provide a direct cash through PayPal, that would work just perfect.

If you have frequent visitors, the top contributors and readers will be the one to participate in your blog contest first, that would actually encourage new visitors to participate. As long as they are loving the prize you are giving if your blog wins.
